Open Campus is excited to announce that its partner The Houston Landing has hired a reporter to cover the city’s community colleges.
Miranda Dunlap will cover the topic for the Landing. Dunlap previously covered K-12 education at the nonprofit news outlet. She started in the role on Aug. 26.
Coverage of community colleges is vital for the Houston area, where attendance at two-year colleges accounts for nearly half of all higher education enrollment, according to the think tank Texas 2036.
Dunlap also joins Open Campus’s Local Network, our growing collaborative of higher-ed reporters we have placed on the beat around the country. Open Campus local reporters are employed by their newsroom and receive additional coaching and support from our team of subject-matter experts. Open Campus is committed to deepening beat reporting across the country.
