The Mississippi Press Association recently honored Mississippi Today/Open Campus coverage of community colleges’ struggle to repair their aging infrastructure.
The story, “‘The stepchildren:’ Community colleges struggle to fund buildings for growing workforce programs” earned a second-place prize in the business category.
The reporter on the story, Molly Minta, covered higher education at Mississippi Today, in partnership with Open Campus, for several years. She now covers the city of Jackson for Mississippi Today.
Minta’s coverage during her time with Open Campus was also recognized in 2025 and 2024 by the Education Writers Association and the Green Eyeshade Awards.
