The University of South Florida has invited the public to provide input as it moves forward with its presidential search.
In a message Tuesday, presidential search committee chairperson Mike Griffin invited community stakeholders to anonymously provide input via a digital survey or sign up to participate in a virtual listening session on July 15. Community members are asked to share the qualities and priorities they hope to see in the next leader.
Previously, the university has held multiple listening sessions with various groups, including faculty, students and staff. The search committee’s next meeting is slated for Aug. 6, where Griffin said they planned to draft a position profile for the type of candidate they are looking for.
On the heels of the University of Florida’s top pick for the presidential job being snubbed by the state’s Board of Governors, USF announced it was moving forward with a different search firm, Korn Ferry instead of SP&A. It is unclear whether SP&A is still working with UF, and a spokesperson for USF said contracts and communication with SP&A and Korn Ferry are exempt from public record, citing state statutes on direct support organizations.
“Your engagement is a valuable part of this process,” Griffin wrote. “I thank you in advance for getting involved and providing meaningful input that helps us identify the best candidate to serve as USF’s ninth president.”
