A decade or so ago, companies would come to community college leaders and demand specific types of employees trained within a certain timeframe.
“Now, it’s ‘How can I help you develop these programs?’” said Carlos Margo, dean of South Texas College’s Center for Advanced Training and Apprenticeships.
That intentional collaboration is a shift that better serves everyone, panelists said in a conversation hosted by Open Campus yesterday. The conversation is the second in a series, known as the Texas Higher Ed Forum, that Open Campus is hosting focused on key topics facing Texas institutions.
Open Campus currently partners with four newsrooms in the state (the Texas Tribune, Fort Worth Report, San Antonio Report and El Paso Matters).
